Pre-during-post race analysis work LMP2 DALLARA P217 Daytona Road 24 Hrs

Welcome back to the driving coach blog of Vitolo Garcia.
The coaching job that we do is to get the most out of the driver with whom we work and for this, we do it as professional and hard as possible, being the first thing we do is a study of why they have hired us and what they hope to improve thanks to our work.
Pre-Test / Race Analysis Driver

Here we are going to talk about the work that is done before, during, and after a race.
The job of a driver is not only to get to the circuit and drive and be the fastest but all the previous work that is done in the preseason and in the days before each test/race.
Once it starts, normally at 9 am, we start with an established plan with a previous meeting with the engineer, coach, and driver to find out what work we want to do and the objectives to be met on that day.
Examples:
– Get the best performance out of the car by working on the car’s setup together with the engineer since we know the circuit because we have shot there previously.
– Another example would be that the driver wanted to improve braking and fast cornering and for this, it would be necessary to work directly with the pilot and not give so much importance to the engineer in this case.
To analyze the driver, we use a work tool that is data/telemetry to see what the driver is doing at each moment and analyze after the driver has finished his session. The analyzes can be done every round (6-7 sessions) or every 2 sessions generally.
Data / Telemetry

Here it is analyzed:
– Speed
– Time gained or lost with respect to the other pilot
– Throttle
– Brake
– Steering wheel
With all this data we analyze where it can be improved.
Once all this has been seen and the work has been done throughout the day, it is seen if the objectives have been worked towards and have been achieved, and feedback and a report are made at the end of the day to end the testing day.
We do separate feedback to know the ways of improvement for the following days of testing, to get to know our driver better and for the driver to know more about our way of working and to be able to achieve objectives as soon as possible.
